LWK - Chamber of Agriculture Lower Saxony, Germany

LWK is a self-regulatory body providing consultation, training and development, testing, research and analysis services and works together with a multitude of reputable partners and service providers from the fields of academia and business. Alongside a whole host of duties that range from research and education to consultancy, the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture also performs several government functions in areas such as agricultural aid and crop protection, in addition to monitoring the application of fertilisers in the region.
The Departments of Rural Development and Environment are responsible for all sustainable land use related topics, e.g. rural development, emission assessment, nutrient cycles, and the protection of climate, biodiversity, nature, water and soil. Their remit also includes the responsible and eco-friendly application of organic manure, such as manure, sewage sludge and compost. LWK is involved in several multiactor- and multistakeholder-processes and communication and also conducts a wide range of field trials amongst others in water protection on special research fields in Lower Saxony.

Role in the project

LWK conducted the case study 03 “Crop diversification to improve water quality in catchment basin" and lead the xperiment 2 in the field experiments in order to improve the water quality in catchment basins.
