The University of Amsterdam, with more than 30,000 students, 5,000 employees and 182 study programmes (Bachelor’s and Master’s), many of which are taught in English, and a budget of more than 600 million euros, is one of the largest comprehensive universities in Europe. The focus of the chair group is policy science, especially system innovations. Over the past few years, significant expertise has been gained on the design, the evaluation & monitoring and the governance of system innovations in the field of agriculture and food. The group uses insights and methods from political science, science and technology studies, transition studies, sociology and history. It has developed methods that have been tested and improved in practice, where they have contributed to actual, marketable innovations.
